Dentistry ProConsult is an app produced by Georgia Regents University and provides a ‘quick and easy way to review procedures they may have to perform on clinic’. The app is available for both Android and iOS.

Overall, this app is useful but to a limited extent. One of the major downfalls, currently, is that it only focuses on 3 main procedural areas: radiology, removable prosthodontics and ProcDentistry ProConsultera crowns. Each of these areas, however, is very thoroughly covered. When clicking on to any of the procedures, you’re able to access general, diagnostic, pre-procedural, procedural and post-procedural information. Each of these sections has simple bullet points containing all the important information and guiding you through the procedure step-by-step.

One of the more impressive aspects of this app is that nearly every procedure has an associated video, allowing the user to get a better understanding of the procedure. Additionally, there are 4 amazing animations that enhance the learning experience – these are on canine guidance, denture cusp movement, group function and natural occlusions. The iPad version also contains images associated with the procedures and is padded out a little more.

The interface is very user-friendly and perfect as a quick guide. There is the ability to easily search for a procedure or add your favourite procedures for quick access. Some of the swiping and navigation did take a little bit of getting used to but overall it was very smooth.

Dentistry ProConsult is overall a very quick, clear and thorough app, covering some key dental procedures. Hopefully, in the future, they will add further procedures which would increase the usefulness of the app. As it is free, it is definitely an app that you should try out!
